Iboy review

Violent book-based thriller has cursing, mature themes. Bill Milner and Maisie Williams are the main actors. Boy ’ is a sparky film, embedded in London’s cheek-by-jowl world of wealth and poverty. It’s also a dark teen drama, peppered with brutal beatings, gang rape, drugs and dead bodies.

An erm, what happens when iBoy needs a software update? I just finished Kevin Brooks’s iBoy which I had to read for school after weeks of waiting for my teacher’s approval to read the ending. Boy , which is now on Netflix, is a fully charged superhero tale that soon overcomes its admittedly ludicrous premise. The news starts running stories of a masked vigilante who appears to be cleaning up the streets with some unusual powers.


Early reviews of the film were mixed. Director Adam Randall and screenwriter Joe Barton’s new film iBoy puts a new spin on the superhero flick. Sean Fitz-Gerald is a staff writer at Thrillist Entertainment. Boy misses out on the opportunity for entertaining mischief with a po-faced approach to the material and a lack of internal logic to the story.


The setting for “ iBoy ,” in the projects and high-rises of South London, as well as its violence, meted out by marauding pubescent gangs, cannot help cutting close to the bone after this past.

Boy ” is a mixture of different genres. Besides the superhero theme, there’s also a social tinged drama about less well-off citizens with youngsters choosing to follow the criminal path. The larger problem with iBoy though is the general lack of momentum, along with its mostly predictable path.


There are no surprises, from who the bad guys are to how iBoy deals with them to the final conflict and tidy resolution. Fans of superhero films shouldn’t expect this to be necessarily “fun” affair, as the film doesn’t flinch away from depicting street-level violence and several gruesome deaths of teens. Yet despite the dark tones and the cold distance that orbits Tom, iBOY is film that is (appropriately) easy to connect with.


Living with his grandmother in the projects known as Crow Town, a grim, sprawling urban jungle where drug-dealing gangs rule by intimidation, Tom keeps his head down and dreams of turning his childhood friendship with Lucy into something more. The science part, however, was so lacking that I could.

Boy film review: Netflix does Brit superheroics. In a film world full of American superheroes, it’s about time the Brits put some of their unique style to it, which is exactly what this film delivers. Boy is available to stream on Netflix now.
