Mysql sock

I had the same problem with the missing mysqld. SQL the name of your server, because default is localhost: mysql -u root -h yourServersHostname -p. Most of the web based systems that we build at Zyxware uses Drupal as the content framework.


I currenty have a LAMP, running on Ubuntu 14. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. MariaDB is a drop-in replacement for mysql.

The server only start with sudo mysqld_safe but without the mysqld. I was working on an answer to this question—on one of my Ubuntu 12. MySQL install was not creating mysqld. More than years have passed since last update.


But I can use mysql and mysqladmin command to connnect mysqld. You can use the following steps to re-create the socket. The mySQL client by default attempts to connect through a local file called a socket instead of connecting to the loopback address (12.) for localhost.

Try to connect not from (probably) root account but specify mysql -u zabbix -p redhat. I tried to change the database directory, datadir, I did the following steps. My machine: Laptop Ubuntu 11. I believe that if mysql is running and the file hasnt been create then its because MYSQL doesnt have the permissions on the folder to create the file. So it must have to do with the CentOS 6. Are FreeNAS and the FreeBSD ports system even compatible, I wonder?
